Learning Log #2

In week 2, lesson 3 ( 7/7/09 ), Mr Chua taught us about Narrative Perspective. Narration is the way the writer relates events to the readers; the way a story is told and the way it is narrated. The principal points of view are first person and third person. First person speakers are involved to at least some degree in the actions of the work. Third person speakers are outside the action and are mainly reporters of actions and speeches. Mr Chua also taught us the common narrative perspective which are the first person subjective, first person detached, first person observer, third person omniscient and third person objective. Lastly at the end of the lesson, Mr Chua gave a worksheet to check our understanding of that day’s lecture.

In week 2, lesson 4 ( 8/7/09 ), Mr Chua told us to take out our booklet and take a look at Unseen Prose Passage 1. Then, Mr Chua read the passage out loud. He also explained the meaning for some sentences. Then, Mr Chua gave us a worksheet about the passage. We were told to do the worksheet until Literature period ends. Lastly before the bell rings, Mr Chua gave us a piece of essay homework on narrative technique.

Till next time!
